From Zero to Heaven in a Ferrari Office Chair

Ferrari office chairs on stage with car

Riley’s Automotive Editor, TMA Howe, ponders selling the farm to purchase what could perhaps be the unbeatable Ferrari office chair: The Cockpit

Have you ever sat at your desk and found yourself dreaming of sliding into the driving seat of that ultimate Italian speed machine? Well, that opportunity could literally be yours thanks to Ferrari who, in conjunction with Poltrona Frau, have designed their first ever luxury office chair.

It was over 70 years ago in Maranello, Italy, that Enzo Ferrari fired up the 125S, the first car to bear his name. Now Ferrari and Poltrona Frau present The Cockpit, a merging of two famous brands to produce an office chair that encapsulates the exhilaration of driving one of the greatest cars in the world and, in effect, turning that dream into reality.

Two Ferrari office chairs have been created: The President and The Executive

Conceived and designed by the team behind the design of recent Ferraris such as the La Ferrari Aperta, the GTC4 Lusso and the 812 Superfast, The Cockpit is made of the same materials used in today’s Ferraris. An international brand representing design, elegance and perfection of Italian-made products for over 100 years, Poltrona Frau have been upholstering Ferrari interiors since the 1980s.

The Ferrari Office Chair: Fun in The Cockpit

Racing seats have influenced the central band of the seat while its swivel device mirrors the design of the steering wheel. The backrest and seat support provide excellent posture and movement, and the Ferrari design team have chosen three options of leather upholstery: Scuderia, Classica and Inedita.

Two versions have been created initially, both with a reclining base and seat:

  • The President is the managerial model with high a distinctive backrest
  • The Executive has a low and narrow backrest to allow more freedom of movement

Sitting in my creaking office chair writing this, I can only dream of one day possessing a “Cockpit”Ferrari office chair all of my very own.
